Research

Our organization will focus on conducting leading-edge research in environmental microbiology, addressing problems in food facilities such as restaurants, fast food establishments, food processing, farmers’ markets, and farms, as well as theoretical research on health-related behavior. In addition, studies of microbial interactions that directly and indirectly influence human health, the economy, and environmental stewardship and sustainability are conducted. The goal also includes studying the mechanisms of pathogenesis and virulence factors of various pathogens. Those goals will be achieved by collaborating with relevant industries both nationally and internationally, as well as working with state and government agencies.
